A new knitter in the family

We went to a family member's birthday party last evening and I had the pleasure of introducing a new knitter to the art.

My neice arrived at the party with a "learn to knit" kit and we spent the evening getting her started. She is 10 years old and quickly picked up on the long tail cast-on. I was very impressed. She practiced and practiced till she mastered casting on and then we moved on to actually knitting. One of her favorite cousins arrived at the party and she was really battling with the decision to knit or to play. Playing took over for a while and then she was back to knitting again. She seems to have the patience to learn and the "stick to it" ness to master the art. I enjoyed watching her enthusiasm. When we were leaving the party, she wanted to know when I would be available to knit with her again. I'm looking forward to spending time knitting with her and am excited to be able to introduce another knitter to the world of knitting!

Very cool! Another convert! I can't believe she's old enough to be knitting already. Somewhere in my mind she'll always be 3.5yrs.
