Too many projects
I've been neglecting blogging for a little while and it may be related to the fact that after spending 8 hours a day working on a computer I don't feel like booting another one in the evening. I know, excuses...
I have been keeping busy in the evenings though. I've plyed my first skein of yarn. It's 2/3 wool, 1/3 mohair and is a natural grey color. I think it is about 192 yards of yarn but I'm not sure what the guage will be.
I find I really like spinning and can spend hours at the wheel. I have a hard time deciding if I want to spend the evening spinning or knitting, notice I didn't say blogging. Maybe all the spinning and knitting are eating into the blogging time. Hmm, maybe I need a course on time management.
I also have some more wool/mohair spun, another 1 1/2 bobbins and a lonley bobin of Leichester Long wool. I'm working on another skein of wool/mohair. When it's all finished I'll decide what I'm going to do with it.
We went to the mountains for Labor Day weekend. We waited till late Saturday morning to leave in hopes that the rain would stop. We got there mid afternoon, settled in, went to church, had dinner and by then the rain was about finished. We were able to build a campfire in the evening and spend some time outside. On Sunday I took the newest family knitter and went to the Reiland farm (it's becoming a habit, as in addictive). The "little knitter" acquired some new purple yarn. Enough to make a new scarf, hat and maybe something else. I picked up some Llama roving. It's a lovely cinnamon brown color (It's About Time) and a beige color (Calvin). As I was looking at the bags of roving, I noticed things written on the bags, besides the price. Things such as "It's About Time", "Calvin". I asked the shop owner what these writings meant. She told me that they are the names of the Llamas that the fiber came from. I loved it!! There is just something cool about knowing the name of the Llama that gave up it's lusterous fiber so that I can spin and knit some more. I can't wait to try out the Llama roving for spinning. It's feels so absolutely soft in the bag.
So, what else have I been up to in my lapse of blogging you ask...
I'm working on the final sleeve of Irish Moss. I have the rest of the pieces done. When the sleeve is finished, I'll still need to do the button bands, the collar and sew the sweater together. There is light at the end of this tunnel.
I've got the bag of the Fiber Trends Sheep Tote finished and am working on the I-cord. All that will be left to do is to weave in the yarn ends and felt it. I'm hoping to have it finished by Sunday. Then I'll need to pick up some "knitting" stuff to fill the bag with so that it can be donated to the church for a Chinese Auction.
I'm also working on Gentleman's Fancy Socks from Knitting Vintage Socks.
These are being knitted for my DH. I have one of the socks done and am nearly down to the toes on the second one. It shouldn't take too much more knitting to finish.
I also have the Icarus shawl on needles. I'm knitting it in Knit Picks Alpaca Cloud, Iris. I'm on the 4th repeat and have a way to go. There is no deadline for this project, so I pick at it when I have a notion to. It could be a very long time before it's finished.
The last project that is currently on the needles is another pair of socks.
This is the first sock of this pair but it's moving along. I'm using Opal, Flamingo and I love the colors. I really have an obsession with pink sock yarn lately. I'm using the Yarn Harlot's sock recipe for a pattern and it is a simple sock to knit. I like working on it when I don't want to have to pay attention to a pattern.
I've begun collecting the yarn to make an Icelandic sweater for one of my granddaughters but refuse to cast on another project until I get some of the WIPs completed. I can't wait to get working on it and am ready for some color work. I'm hoping anticipation for the sweater makes me finish some of the ongoing projects.
